Anyinasuso (Ash), Dec 07, GNA – Opanin Yaw Kumah, a 62-year-old farmer from Mmeredane near Tepa, won the Ahafo-Ano North District best farmer award at the district’s celebration of the National Farmer’s Day at Anyinasuso.

Opanin Kumah received a bicycle, a pair of Wellington boots, a full piece of cloth and four cutlasses.

Fifteen other farmers who distinguished themselves received bicycles, wax prints, insecticides, Wellington boots, bars of key soap and cutlasses.

Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, the Ahafo-Ano North District Chief Executive, said the Farmers’ Day was designed to motivate farmers and fishermen to give off their best.

He urged the youth not to rush into early sex so as to contract the deadly disease AIDS but asked them to get themselves well educated.
