Kwameasua (B/A), Oct. 04, GNA – Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister has inaugurated a 333 million cedis maternity block for Kwameasua in the Dormaa District. The block financed with funds from theSocial Investment Fund (SIF), the HIPC Relief Fund, the Dormaa District Assembly and the Kwameasua Community, is expected to boost maternal and child health care delivery within Kwameasua and its environs.
Nana Seinti said the block would also promote the delivery of health care delivery and pledged the Government’s commitment to poverty reduction and provision of affordable health care delivery. The Regional Minister urged the youth of Kwameasua to engage in the cultivation of soya beans to improve on the nutritional value of their diet and also reduce poverty and unemployment.
Mr. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning said the Government’s policy to provide free medical care for child delivery, Capitation fund for basic schools and daily feeding of children in basic schools were geared towards improved health and quality education for Ghanaians.
He said the Government was making efforts to rehabilitate the Kyeremasu-Gambia No.2 main road to enhance the movement of goods and services to markets.
Mr. Yaw Asiedu Mensah, Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, commended the communal spirit of the people of Kwameasua and called on them to ensure maintenance of the block.
Mr. Wilson Benneh, SIF Zonal Coordinator for Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Northern regions said the Fund provided infrastructure to enhance the health of the people and to reduce poverty. Nana Kwame Yeboah, Chief of Kwameasua, commended the Government for the project and appealed to the Assembly to provide streetlights in the town and a vehicle to enable the clinic respond rapidly to emergency and referral cases.
