A 15-member Red Cross Board formed

A 15-member advisory board to help steer the affairs of Gomoa-West branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS) has been formed.

Members include, traditional rulers, top security officers, medical officers, administrators, disaster control officers, media practitioners and Red Cross officials.

Mr. Justice Peter Ansah, District Organiser of the GRCS, announced this at Gomoa Ankamu in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.

Mr Ansah said a large track of land has been acquired at Ankamu for the construction of a special Red Cross clinic to take care of emergency accident cases.

Gomoa-Ankamu, popularly called Apam-Junction, on the Cape Coast-Accra highway, is known to be one of the country’s accident prone areas.

He said the board would soon be inaugurated.

It would offer advice and assist Red Cross Society groups in the district to take vital management decisions on disaster control and other health improvement issues.

Meanwhile, Mr Ansah has warned both commercial and private drivers plying the Cape Coast – Accra route to desist from excessive speeding, unnecessary overtaking and other acts of reckless driving to avoid fatal road accidents and their resultant lost of precious lives.

He also advised people in both Gomoa-East and Gomoa-West Districts to embrace sound domestic and environmental sanitation guidelines to avoid the outbreak of cholera and other communicable diseases during the current rainy season.
