Have (V/R), Nov.28, GNA – A 120 million cedi three- classroom block built through self-help by the Amenuveve-Habobor, a religious society at Have in the Hohoe district for their primary school has been inaugurated.

Mr Joe Amenorwode, Member of Parliament for Hohoe South, inaugurating the block, expressed concern about the spate of children on the streets within the Hohoe district during school hours. He called on parents within the district to take advantage of the Capitation grant and send their children to school. Mr Amenorwode said the Volta Region used to produce civil servants and academic force in the past but was now experiencing academic decadence due to child neglect by parents.

Mr Amenorwode urged parents to supplement Government efforts by buying some text-books for their children to learn at home, “let us use funds meant for funerals to educate our children.”

He called on the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and register for the early commencement of the scheme in the area.

Mr Amenorwode commended Mr Van Rob Hoorn a Netherlands based philanthropist and Dodzi Development Foundation a non-governmental organization based at Golokwati for supporting the society with 85 million cedis to complete the project..

Mr Hoorn commended the society for their communal spirit and urged them to keep it up.

He advised them to unite and live peacefully to enhance the rapid development of the area. Rev Virgil Abiw of Amenuveve-Habobor expressed his gratitude to Togbe Apedo Foli IX, a sub-chief of Have for releasing land to the society.

Rev Abiw commended Mr Hoorn and the Foundation for assisting the society to complete the project.
