Ejisu citizens abroad call for unity at home

Ejisu (Ash), April 2, GNA – Citizens of Ejisu living abroad have called on residents at home to be united to foster peace and development in the town.

Mr. Kwadwo Fordjour, representative of the Ejisu Development Association (EDA) based in Washington, said this at Ejisu when addressing chiefs and people of the town at an annual homecoming meeting held under the theme “Unity and Prosperity”. He attributed the slow development and increasing unemployment among the youth in the town to disunity and misunderstanding among the people and appealed to them to bury their differences to enable the town’s development agenda to take off.

Mr. Fordjour announced the resolve of the EDA in Europe to showcase the town positively abroad to attract investors “but no investor will invest in a community where there is no peace”, he said.

He commended the government on elevating the area to a municipal status and urged Ghanaians in the Diaspora to invest in Ghana. Mr. Kwame Kyeremateng Mensah Aborampah, Country Director for EDA in Ghana, advised the youth to channel their youthful energies into profitable ventures and not to engage in acts that could derail the development of the town.

Mr. Yaw Ahenkorah Afrifa, Municipal Chief Executive for the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, commended the EDA for the laudable initiative.

He said the Ejisu Traditional Council has released land to the assembly to build a tourist centre in the town in honour of the legendary Nana Yaa Asantewaa.

Mr. Osei Agyei, Member of Parliament of the area and Minister for Foreign Affairs, donated GH¢15,000 as his personal contribution towards development projects, whilst Ejisu Citizens in United Kingdom (UK) and the USA donated GH¢ 47, 000.
