Fire Scare at TOR

Tema, March. 06, GNA- Personnel of the Fire Department of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) acted swiftly to avert a major fire outbreak at the refinery on Wednesday afternoon, when dried grass in the loading yard caught fire.

The grass caught fire when sparks from a high tension electric cable situated outside the refinery yard fell on it at about 1430 hours. Employees of the refinery, who were by then at a staff durbar took to their heels to escape from the fire scare.

Mrs Aba Lokko, Public Relations Officer of the refinery told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the incident occurred about 30 minutes after the staff durbar has started, prompting the employees to run for their lives. Mrs Lokko however commended the fire personnel for their prompt response to the situation.
