New fuel price should not affect transport fares-GRTCC

Accra, Feb. 29, GNA-The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) on Friday said the new fuel price adjustment should not lead to any increase in the current road transport fares. A statement signed by Mr. Bashir Barry Maouds, Chairman of the Road Transport Fare Review Committee, said the last transport fare list released took that increase into consideration and urged road transport operators to stick to the prevailing transport fares until a new transport fare list was released. It said the committee was working on a holistic fare adjustment taking into consideration all other components in fixing the fares including cost of vehicle, insurance, spare parts, fuel lubricants and tyres.
