Fire Ball to make fire fighting easier

Ho, Feb. 21, GNA- The “ELIDE Fire Extinguishing Ball” has become the newest and easiest dimension and cost effective way to fire fighting at homes, schools, workplaces, fuel stations, hotels and garages in the country.

Recommended by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) the “Ball” eliminates the mastery of sophisticated fire fighting equipment and techniques in fighting indoor fires even in the absence of occupants. “FIRE VOLTA”, a new bi-annual Volta Region Fire service magazine out-doored at the re-launch of the 2008 bushfire prevention campaign in the Volta Region on Thursday, described the Ball as requiring no training to use, activates automatically when in contact with fire, sets off a fire alarm, easy to install by user, maintenance free and lasts for five years.

In a brief, the “FIRE VOLTA” indicated that the BALL, red in colour, and costs 60 Ghana Cedis each should be mounted on fire prone areas such as above electrical circuits breakers, in kitchens, above gas cylinders, schools, offices, houses and garages, among others.

“Mount fire ball within 30 centimetres (cm) of any potential hazard. It activates automatically in case of fire outbreak”, it said. In case of a fire out-break, “just pick an “ELIDE FIRE BALL” and throw into the fire. Within 3 seconds, the chemical powder is activated to extinguish the fire”. Additional balls could be thrown in or rolled into the fire to extinguish it completely”.

Mr Paa Kwasi Adutwum, Assistant Director Fire Safety Department of the GNFS described the Fire Balls as “Firemen on duty 24 hours”. The Ghana Fire Service could be contacted for direction as to how to procure the “ELIDE FIRE Extinguishing Ball”.
