HIV/ AIDS cases in Amansie-West District increase

Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Feb 18, GNA- The Amansie-West District of Ashanti recorded 54 cases of HIV/AIDS in 2007 as against 13 in 2006. Mr. Joseph Adomako, District Director of Health Services, attributed the upsurge to the decline in anti-HIV/AIDS education campaign in the district. He was speaking at the Annual Health Performance Review Meeting of the District at Manso-Nkwanta at the weekend. Mr. Adomako said the District Directorate of Health would this year collaborate with non-governmental organizations and corporate bodies to intensify anti-HIV/AIDS education campaigns to help reduce the prevalence rate of the pandemic in the district. He called for the renovation of health centres at Manso-Edubia, Antoakrom and Esowin to facilitate health delivery in the District.
