Fanteakwa Fire Station lacks logistics

Begoro, Feb. 11, GNA- The Fanteakwa District Fire Officer, Mr Emmanuel Reginald Nai, on Monday said the lack of logistics and funds were hampering the effective operations of the Fire Service in the district.

He made this known at a health workers meeting at Begoro on Monday. Mr Nai said even though the District Assembly had provided a permanent fire station for the service, there had been no financial support to run the place.

He said lack of transportation was also a hindrance to the service, making it difficult to access the rural communities to reactivate the fire volunteer squads.

Mr Nai said his outfit was now collaborating with the Forestry Department in the district to undertake its outreach programmes. The District Chief Executive for Fanteakwa, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, was unhappy about the withdrawal of the only fire tender at the fire station which had not been replaced for the past years.
