Sekondi stadium located on Inchaban lands and not at Essipon lands – MP

Shama (W/R), Feb. 6, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Shama, Mrs Angelina Baiden-Amissah has said that the location of the newly constructed Sekondi Stadium is on Inchaban stool lands and not on Essipon lands.

She said ‘we will not allow this error to continue and sit looking on as we lose our land and the benefits that are likely to accrue from it,” she stressed.

Mrs Baiden-Amissah, who was interacting with the media at Shama on Tuesday, said although she and the chiefs of her area had persistently stressed that the stadium was sited on Inchaban lands just as the Sekondi College, opinion leaders and the general public had mistakenly identified the stadium as Sekondi stadium at Essipon. “The Essipon chief and elders know and accept that the present location of the stadium is on Inchaban stool lands while the Chinese construction workers site is on Essipon lands. The MP, who is also the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, said the chiefs and people of Shama and its environs would not sit down unconcerned and lose the potential royalties that would accrue from their lands.

She, therefore, appealed to all including the media to stop repeating the error in describing the location of stadium. Mrs Baiden-Amissah said even though they did not have anything against the present name of the stadium, they only wanted the proper location of the stadium to be known to all and to rectify the error.
