Transfer of newly trained post-secondary teachers embargoed

The Ministry of Education has placed an embargo on regional and district transfers of newly trained teachers with effect from August 1 to facilitate the early payment of approved salaries.

A statement signed by Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said releases for payment of salaries to the new teachers would be made available to the District Directors for prompt payment of September 2000 salaries. He, however, advised the teachers to report at the regions and districts to which they have been posted by the end of September.

It said those, who fail to do so, should regard themselves as having declined their appointment and be prepared to face appropriate sanctions. District Directors have issued appointment letters for this year’s newly trained teachers and they are requested to go and collect them if they have not received them already.
