Otumfuo, step in or else ?

The Elders of Biemso No. I near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District of Ashanti are calling on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Ashanti Regional Minister to step in to resolve an emerging disturbance in the town.

According to the Elders led by the Gyaasehene Nana Agyei Ababio, the Odikro of the town Nana Bediako Ababio has shown gross disrespect to the stool, the elders and the people while failing to perform purification rites to the stool as expected of him.

They accused Nana Bediako Ababio of misusing the great oath of Otumfuo, using development projects money for his personal interests, sale of stool lands without accounting for, and the alleged destoolment of the Queen mother, Nana Abena Bonsu.

They also claimed that he has hired the youth in the town and elsewhere to assault the people which have resulted in the stabbing of the daughter of the queen mother in the eye and the beating of the elders in the town especially those who oppose his views.

The Elders noted that these and others have contributed to the fact that, Nana Bediako Ababio is heartless and do not want peace to prevail in the town.

They are therefore calling for the immediate removal and subsequent destoolment as the Odikro of Biemso No. I.

They further urged the Akyempimhene Nana Adusei Poku their Overlord to call the Odikro to order so that peace could prevail in the area for better development to thrive.

The Elders added that “in order not to repeat the disturbance or violence in some parts of the country to repeat at Biemso No. I, authorities should step in to resolve issues since tempers are rising high else they would advise themselves”.
