CPP women condemn Bhutto’s assassination

Accra, Jan. 01, GNA-The Women’s Wing of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) had condemned the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and called on international bodies to put pressure on President Pervez Musharraf to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We strongly condemn the silencing of the most popular, charismatic and articulate female voice of Pakistan”, the Wing said in a release in Accra.

The former Prime Minister, who has since been buried, was assassinated on Thursday 20, 2007 in Pakistan.

The women’s group of the CPP condemned the heinous attack and reiterated its call for justice, appealing to international bodies, including the Commonwealth to put pressure on the Pakistani President to bring the killers to justice.

The CPP Women’s Wing, led by its National Women’s Organiser, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim-Haruna, extended its condolence to the Bhutto family. 01 Jan. 08
