Veterinarians congratulate flag bearers

Accra, Dec. 31, GNA – The Ghana Veterinary Medical Association (GVMA) on Monday congratulated the flag bearers of the four main political parties who would be contesting the 2008 elections. The flag bearers are Professor John Evans Atta-Mills of the National Democratic Congress, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Convention Peoples Party, Dr Edward Mahama of the Peoples National Convention and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party.

A statement in Accra signed by the National President, Dr Akwasi Darkwa, said the Association was convinced that the elected candidates were the “cream de la cream” of their respective parties and would ensure a peaceful political campaign and election in the coming year. It asked the leaders to ensure that their campaigns were devoid of acrimony and insults, adding, “Ghana had come a long way in its democratic journey and all efforts should be harnessed to consolidate this feat so that the country will further move forward”. The statement entreated all party faithful and sympathizers to conduct themselves in a civil manner during the campaign period to avert any incidence of violence and ensure free and fair elections. 31 Dec. 07
