Ghanaians arrested in Iran with heroin

Accra, Dec. 17, GNA – Five Ghanaians have been arrested in Iran for illegally possessing heroin, a statement from the Narcotic Control, Board announced on Monday.

Two separate statements issued by the Board in Accra said: Eric Yeboah, David Yao Atorku and Evans Seidu all holders of Ghanaians passports were arrested last November for carrying heroin weighing 762 gramms.

The other two: Frank Gyima Okata and Miriam Quarshie all with Ghanaian passports were arrested this month.

The Iranian Embassy has confirmed the incident and said the five were in police custody pending their trial.
