New Juaben municipality to get streetlights

Koforidua, Dec.10, GNA- About 1,800 street lights are to be installed in the New Juaben Municipality as part of government’s street lighting programme.

Nana Kwesi Adjei Boateng, the new Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the first phase of the project would cover the major roads in the Koforidua Township. Some of the areas include the Okorase, Akwadum and Effiduase main roads that link the municipality to other towns and Minyilla, Galloway, Atekyem, Anlo-Town and the Eredec arterial roads would also be covered. Asked why, the project was hooked to the national grid instead of solar, Mr. Boateng said the initial cost of solar panels was estimated at 4.6 million Dollars while the hydro-energy source was about 21 billion cedis.

He said the assembly would collaborate with the Electricity Company of Ghana to maintain the streetlights. 10 Dec. 7
