Millicom Ghana presents mathematics sets to schools in B/A

Berekum (B/A), Dec. 7, GNA- The Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of tigo cellular network has presented 648 mathematical sets to two basic schools in the Berekum municipality. The beneficiaries were Kato D/A Junior High and the Berekum Freeman Methodist A.B.C. Junior High schools (JHS).

The presentation was part of a 2,500 mathematical sets worth GH=A26,000 to be distributed to some selected schools in the region. The rest of the schools to benefit are Ridge Experimental JHS in Sunyani, Islamic Primary and JHS at Chiraa and Deeper Life Primary and JHS at Wenchi.

Others are St. Francis JHS at Techiman and Kintampo Roman Catholic JHS.

At a short presentation ceremony at the beneficiary schools at Berekum and Kato, Mr Michael Larteh, Regional Manager of Millicom Ghana Limited said the presentation was part of the company’s social responsibility to help improve the standard of education in the region. He urged the students to make proper use of the items and also concentrate of their books to achieve high academic laurels. Receiving the items, Mr Stephen Akorli, headmaster of Freeman Methodist JHS expressed his appreciation to the donors and gave the assurance that the items would be used for its intended purposes. He appealed to the company to continue with its kind gesture to help promote the academic standards of the students.

Mr Akorli urged other institutions, Non-Governmental Organisations and Philanthropist to emulate Millicoms gesture to enable more students to achieve their aims and aspirations while also helping to alleviate poverty.
