Vote CPP into power for peace- Danso

Kumasi, Dec.5, GNA- The Convention People’s Party (CPP) says the only alternative left for Ghanaians to keep the peace and stability its enjoying now is to reject both the NDC and NPP in the 2008 general elections.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Tuesday and signed by Mr S.K Danso, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, said the frequent predictions of electoral mayhem by NDC and dangerous responses from the ruling NPP were a threat to the unity of Ghanaians, and that there was the need for the electorate to realize this and vote the two parties out of power. The CPP stated that the threat by the two parties confirmed that they had nothing productive to change in the living standards of Ghanaians in the shortest possible time.

“In order to save Ghana from burning if the NPP wins in the 2008 general elections, as claimed by the NDC, then the only true alternative to keep Ghanaians in peace and stability is to reject both the NDC and the NPP”, the statement emphasised.

It said considering the current trend of poverty, unemployment, widespread hardship and corruption, the CPP must work hard and organise from the wards to constituency levels and not to be armchair politicians to win the 2008 elections.

Meanwhile, the party says preparations towards the holding of the national delegates’ congress at the KNUST, in mid December is well on course.

Mr Danso, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party said, adequate efforts had been made to ensure that delegates were comfortable and secured during their stay in Kumasi.

He appealed to party officials both within and outside Ashanti to remain neutral and give all the aspiring presidential candidates equal support in their campaign exercise and rally behind whoever emerges as the winner.
