Officials of Akoti Rural Bank – embezzlement

Assin Foso (C/R), Dec 3, GNA – The Assin Foso District Magistrate Court on Monday, November 26 2007 remanded two officials of the Assin Akonfodi branch of Akoti Rural Bank in custody for two weeks for embezzling 875 million cedis belonging to the Bank. The accused, Theophilus Akompong, embezzled 500 million cedis, while Eugene Ampaabeng embezzled 375 million cedis.

Their pleas were not taken and the Judge, Mr Joseph Blay remanded them in police custody to re-appear on Monday December 17, 2007. According to the prosecution, DSP George Lordzi, the two accused persons could not account for the money when they were audited.
