Busia documentary premiers in London

Ghanaians in the United Kingdom will on Thursday November 22 have the grand opportunity to savour the story of Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, Prime Minister of the 2nd Republic of Ghana.

The British premier of The Prof, a documentary on the life, vision and legacy of the one of Ghana?s political icons will be screened at the Lilian Bayliss Theatre, Sadler?s Wells Theatre on Rosebury Avenue, London.

According to the organisers a question and answer section will follow the screening, which opens at 6.30, with the distinguished documentary panel including Busia?s daughters, Dr Abena Busia and actress and filmmaker, Akosua Busia.

Holby City?s Ghanaian star, Hugh Quarshie will moderate the event, which will also have musical entertainment from renowned singer Stephanie Benson.

Dr Busia was Ghana?s Prime Minister between 1969 and 1972. General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong overthrew him on January 13, 1972 while on a medical check up abroad.

His life?s achievements include being the first African scholar at the prestigious University College Oxford where he took a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and DPhil in Social Anthropology.

He died in 1978.
