The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Akihisa Tanaka and the Chief of Peki Dzogbati, Togbe Agamla has signed an agreement for the grant of 81-point-two million cedis for the construction of a Junior Secondary School at Peki Dzogbati in the Volta Region. The grant is in response to an appeal made by the Peki Dzogbati Town Development Committee for the financial assistance under JapanAEs Small Scale Grant Assistance Programme. The sic classroom block, two workshops with a tools room, a library, a masterAEs office and a teachersAE common room replace the old school block which was destroyed by rainstorm in 1989. Mr. Akihisa Tanaka said one of the basic facilities required for extending education to the rural communities is the availability of solid and permanent school structures. He hoped the construction of the school would enable JSS students in the area to get effective and uninterrupted education.
Mr Tanaka congratulated the chief and people of Peki Dzogbati on their self help spirit. Togbe Agamla thanked the government of Japan for the assistance. He said his people are working on a twin-sister relations with a town in Japan to help strengthen the friendly relations between Ghana and Japan.
