NPP to boost Police Service

The Weekend Statesman, in a front-page coverage says MP for Ablekuma North, Mr. Kwmena Bartels said the NPP will strengthen the Police by 6,000 recruits within the first two years in power because it is committed to providing adequate protection for the life and property of Ghanaians. Mr. Bartels, addressing a party rally in Accra, is reported as saying that the rising crime wave in the country should not be blamed on the Police as, with less than 18,000 men and women, they can only be overwhelmed by criminals.

The MP is reported to have note that at independence in 1957, there was an 18,000 strong police service for a population of less than six million, but today, with about 20 million, “the government has not found it necessary to increase the strength of the Police.

Mr. Bartels, according to the Statesman said the NPP is ready to provide purposeful leadership nd urged Ghanaians to vote massively for the party.
