Wholesale promotion banned in Fanteakwa

Ahomahomasu (E/R), Oct. 29, GNA- Ms Mary Animwah, Fanteakwa District Director of Education, on Monday announced that the District Directorate has banned wholesale promotion of pupils in basic schools in the area with immediate effect.

Ms Aniwah disclosed this at school performance appraisal meeting at Ahomahomasu in the District on Monday. He said wholesale promotion had negatively affected the performance of school children adding that most of them who completed their education could not write their names or acquire simple communication skills.

Ms Aniwah said even though the district obtained 13 grade ones this year against six grade ones last year in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), seven schools obtained zero per cent this year as against two schools last year.

She said the Directorate would conduct a standardized end-of-year assessment test for all schools in the district with effect from this year as a way of screening pupils in primary one to the junior high secondary school level.

Ms Aniwah urged parents to invest in the education of their children and to ensure that they studied at home to avoid being repeated.
