Agona West NDC elects Parliamentary Candidate

Agona Swedru, Oct. 28, GNA-The Agona West branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday elected a lecturer at Accra Polytechnic as its Parliamentary Candidate to contest the 2008 elections.

Mr Ibrahim Lubairu, aged 31, polled 153 votes to beat Mr. Kweku Tetteh, Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba who had 90 votes.

Mr Kwame Amoah, Agona District Electoral Officer, conducted the election that was supervised by regional and national executives of the party.

Addressing, the supporters after the election, Opanyin Kwame Gyan, national Deputy Organizer urged them to endeavour to properly market the elected candidate for him win the next year’s election. He advised the electorate to avoid tribal politics because it could endanger the chances of the party in the election. Opanyin Gyan Called on the parents and friends of Mr Zubairu to campaign vigorous for him to win more votes especially floating ones to enable NDC recapture the seat.

He noted that NDC has the chance to annex the Presidential seat from New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008 because Ghanaians have tested and have known the difference between the two major Political parties in the country.

Mr Musah Donkoh, Agona West Constituency Chairman urged supporters of the two candidates to forget the past and work as a team to enable the party win more votes for the party. He said the constituency executives would continue to work hard for the NDC win both Parliamentary and Presidential elections. Mr Lubairu promised to work closely with Mr Tetteh and his supporters in order to defeat the other political parties in 2008 elections. 28 Oct. 07
