Man denies cocaine smuggling charges

Dubai: A Ghanaian man yesterday pleaded innocent to smuggling 67 capsules of cocaine.

The 31-year-old suspect, E.E., was charged with smuggling and trafficking cocaine. It is alleged he swallowed the capsules. Meanwhile his 41-year-old compatriot, M.K., was accused of bringing in nine capsules of cocaine in the same manner. An informant tipped-off the anti-narcotics police that an African suspect was looking for someone to buy cocaine from him. A senior officer was assigned to buy the drugs.

Deal

A captain at Dubai police’s anti-narcotics department said in his statement: “We headed to the hotel where the deal was struck. We arrested the defendant who turned out to be E.E. We found the police money which was used to buy the drugs in a waist-bag.”
