Akyem Swedru (E/R), Oct 5, GNA- The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court in the Eastern Region on Friday sentenced a farmer, who threatened to kill three people, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour. The court presided over by Mr Edward Kwame Bosompim Apenkwah found Kofi Yeboah, whose plea was not taken, guilty on two counts after the trial.
Yeboah was accordingly sentenced to six months for offensive conduct and 10 years for threat of death, imprisonment in hard labour, to run concurrently.
The Prosecution told the court that Madam Adwoa Fordjour, mother of the convict, Madam Abena Gyamfuah, his sister and one Pastor Samuel Kwabia, who are the complainants live in the same house at Akyem Ayirebi with Yeboah.
He said on September 3 this year, Yeboah used abusive language on her mother and later threatened her, saying: “Before the next day you would not be a human being”, and that “I will cut your stomach into two parts and kill you”.
The prosecutor said a few day’s later, Yeboah asked his sister’s maidservant to give him salt, but when she said there was none, he became offended and insulted his sister.
He also threatened to kill anybody who came his way. For fear of their life, they reported the matter to the police who arrested Yeboah.
