Trader fined for selling without medical certificate

Assin Foso(CR), Oct. 03, GNA – An Assin District Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced Margaret Ofori, a trader from Assin Anyinabirim to 20 Ghana cedis fine on her own plea for selling alcoholic beverages without medical certificate.

In default Margaret would serve a month’s imprisonment. Prosecuting, Mr Charles Quainoo, Assin District Environmental Health Officer told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay, that on August 15, this year, environmental health officers on routine inspection, entered Margaret’s drinking bar and demanded her health certificate. He said the accused became offended and insulted them she was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
