Lighting strikes mourners

Kwamikrom Newtown (V/R, Sept. 27, GNA – People ran helter-skelter for safety after lighting struck down 10 mourners at a funeral at Kwamikrom Newtown last Thursday, 20th 2007. Among the victims was a 13-year-old school girl, Miss Abigail Fiawornu, who together with others later gained consciousness and went home unhurt.

Eyewitness said, the body of the late Sefenya Tsortsi, 25 of Mepe in the Volta Region was awaiting the final journey to the Kwamikrom public cemetery when the incident occurred during a sudden rainfall. Mr David Dorto, a retired school teacher who was at the head of the funeral table later advised the victims to report at the local health centre although they were unharmed.
