Police look for hit-and-run driver

Ekumfi Abor (C/R), Sept. 27, GNA – The Police at Ekumfi Essueshyia are look for a hit-and-run driver who killed an 18-month-old baby and seriously injured two women and near Ekumfi Abor in the Central Region on Thursday.

Chief Inspector John Kofi Biney of the Ekumfi Essueshyia Police Post, told the Ghana News Agency that the women, one of them carrying her baby at the back, were returning from farm when the vehicle hit them.

C/Inspector Biney said the women were walking on the pavement along the road when the driver ran through them, killing the baby on the spot and wounding the women. He said after the incident the driver did not stop, nor reported the incident to the Police. He said the women were receiving treatment at the Saltpond Government Hospital and that the body of the baby had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
