Conflict, variance with development-Blay

Takoradi, Sept. 20, GNA – Mr. Kwasi Blay, Deputy Western Regional Minister, has said conflict in whatever form was at variance with development.

He said conflicts ”heightens tensions, stains relationship and dissipates scarce resources that should be used to provide essential social and other services to the people.” Mr Blay said this during an interaction and introduction of Western Regional Peace Advisory Council (WRPAC) to the media in Takoradi on Wednesday.

He said the government had put in place policies to ensure peace and security and to enable law-abiding citizens to go about their businesses without any hindrance. Mr Blay said though there are security agencies operating at their respective levels, the Regional Peace Advisory Council was expected to be pre-emptive.

He appealed to citizens of the country to support the councils to enable them to find solutions to some of the nagging conflicts that had strains on the nation’s scarce resources. 19 Sept 07
