Atwima Nwabiagya assembly partners ADB to sink boreholes

Fufuo, (Ash), Sept. 15, GNA – The Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly, in partnership with the Agricultural Development Bank, is providing 200 boreholes to some communities in the district. Mr Thomas Ofori Donkro, District Chief Executive, said this when he paid a day’s visit to Fufuo near Barekese on Thursday.

He said the assembly had also moulded 1,500 high-tension poles to be distributed to some communities to connect them to the national electricity grid.

Mr Donkro said the assembly has also initiated plans to provide remote communities with solar energy lamps and that trials for the solar energy lamps were currently ongoing at Worapong and Nkotommire in the district. He said work on some feeder roads in the district was progressing and these include the Sepaase/Besease/Ntensere road, Maakro/Agogo/Twedie road and Toase/Gyankobaa/Hwidiem road while the Maaband/Barekese/Esaaso road had been awarded on contract.

Mr Donkro said the assembly had made provision for the supply of 4,000 desks and 100 tables and chairs for teachers in the district. Nana Owusu Ansah, chief of the town, called for cooperation with the assembly to ensure rapid development of the town. 15 Sept 07
