Adaklu Anyigbe District NHIS to organise people’s assembly.

Kpetoe (V/R), Aug. 31, GNA- Mr. Raybon-Evans Anyadi, Manager of the Adaklu Anyigbe District National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has announced that his outfit would soon organize a People’s Assembly to boost their interest in the scheme.

He said apart from the Health Insurance People’s Assembly, the Scheme was putting other measures in place as part of its membership drive. Mr. Anyadi, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Thursday, said the district would be divided into three sub-districts namely Agortime, Adaklu and Ziope for easy administration.

He said the Scheme hoped to cover 62 per cent of its membership registration by the end of 2007 and appealed to Assembly members, opinion leaders and Unit Committee members in the district to impress on members of their communities to register with the NHIS.

Mr. Anyadi said the NHIS was one of the best programmes of government, as it remains the only social welfare package in the country to be enjoyed by both the rich and the poor.

He disclosed that the National Health Insurance Council has released GH=A25,630 (560.3 million cedis) to the district, 20 per cent of which was to be used for administration and the rest for claims management. Mr. Anyadi said the Council has also given seven sets of computers to the district to enable it speed up its work.

He appealed to the Council to assist the district with logistics especially motorbikes and bicycles for their agents to enable them cover areas that were not motorable.
