Krontihene Turns On The Heat On Nkoranza Omanhene

The Krontihene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Nana Kwasi Kwei and three other chiefs have sworn to make sure that the allegation made by the Asiahene, Nana Adubofour concerning the alleged stolen gold ornaments by the Nkoranzahene, Okatakyie Agyemang Kodom IV is investigated to come out with the truth. This was contained in a press release issued on Tuesday at the Krontihene’s palace.

The release which was signed by the Krontihene, the Benkumhene, the Kyidomhene and the Akyiamehene stated that in 2005, the Asiahene accused the Omanhene of replacing the gold ornaments banqueted to him when he was enstooled with fake ones. This accusation, according to the Krontihene was treated with contempt by the Omanhene.

Nana Kwei said in the release that the recent slaughtering of a sheep to signify the distoolment of the Omanhene emanated from the alleged stolen gold ornaments. According to the release, the press conference organized by the omanhene to explain the set records straight did not mention the substantive case of stolen gold ornaments.

He said traditionally, if a chief is accused of stealing, it is incumbent on the accused chief to prove the accuser wrong and take on the accuser but in the case of the Nkoranza Omanhene, nothing of such was done. He said since silence means concern, it is then supposed that the gold ornaments have been really stolen. According to Nana Kwei the gold ornaments are the property of the stool and as such they will never rest until the truth or otherwise is unearthed

It would be recalled two royals of the Nkoranza stool wrote a petition to the queenmother nana Dudaa Kani to impress upon the Nkoranza Manhene to produce the gold ornaments for inspection since there has been an allegation that he has sold them and replaced them with fake ones. Efforts made for the matter to be settled amicably did not yield any fruit. Two weeks ago,, the three chiefs, led by the Krontihene went to Doduakraase, a sacred tree near the palace of the Omanhene and slaughtered a sheep to signify the distoolment of the Omanhene. Part of the meat was hanged on the tree and part given to the Queenmother as tradition demanded

Three days later, the Omanhene who was hospitalized also called a press conference to say that he was still the omanhene and that he too has distooled the said chiefs. As at the time of filing this report, the Nkoranza township seems to be sitting on a time bomb
