Self-styled pastor subjects lady to a sex ordeal

Sogakope (V/R), Aug. 7, GNA – A self-styled pastor, aged 38, of Kasseh near Ada who allegedly subjected a girl to a three-day sex ordeal under the pretext of healing her has been put before a circuit court at Sogakope charged with rape.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to reappear on August 27. Mr. Akwesi Asafo-Agyei, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Sogakope District, told the Ghana News Agency that relatives of a 17-year-old senior secondary school graduate requested Pastor Prince Doe to cure her of nightmares during a deliverance service he organized at the Presbyterian Church chapel at Sokpoe near Sogakope on July 27. Pastor Doe asked that the girl be brought to his Kasseh residence and on July 29 the victim was taken to Kasseh and left in his care for healing.

After the departure of the girl’s relatives, Pastor Doe quoted portions of the Bible and told the girl never to object to any request he would make because that was the only way she could be healed. Pastor Doe demanded to have sex with the girl but she refused. He forcibly had sex with her after which he locked her in the room for three days and had sex with her several times.

He took the girl back to her parents and assured them that their daughter had been healed.

Mr. Asafo-Agyei said the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents and a report was made to the police. 7 Aug. 07
