Pupils benefit from School Feeding Programme in Adansi South

New-Edubiase (Ash), Aug. 6, GNA – About 345 pupils in two primary schools in the Adansi South District are benefiting from the School Feeding Programme, Mr Francis Kudjo Dorpenyoh, the District Chief Executive, has said.

He however expressed regret that grants for the programme and the payment of workers were not forthcoming as expected even though only two schools were being covered.

Mr Dorpenyoh was briefing members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) during the committee’s visit to the district on Friday.

He said parents had expressed concern about the issue. Concerning the capitation grant and the new educational reforms that comes into operation in the next academic year, Mr Dorpenyoh said adequate preparations had been made for its smooth take off.

Mr Dorpenyoh said unit committees and the area councils were firmly on the ground and working and suggested that their numbers should be reduced so that token amounts could be paid to them. The committee inspected the completed 32-unit lockout stores built by the assembly and a guesthouse. The members also inspected an on-going one-storey district police administration block the assembly is building. The committee is on a one-week visit to some districts in the region.
