KNUST signs MOU with sister institution in US

Kumasi, Aug. 6, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in the United States for a collaboration designed to strengthen educational, cultural and scientific ties between the two institutions. The MOU, signed in Kumasi, would be valid for five years during which the two institutions would be expected to undertake joint activities in the areas of research, community outreach programmes, student training and academic exchanges as well as exchange of educational materials and transfer of technology for scholarly pursuits. Dr Mahama Duwiejua, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, signed for KNUST while Dr Henry Lewis, Dean of the College of Pharmacy of FAMU signed for FAMU.

Dr Duwiejua commended authorities at FAMU for the initiative and hoped the memoranda would greatly boost academic and research work, especially at the College of Health Science of KNUST. He stated that co-ordinators for programmes under the MOU would be expected to develop a detailed plan to implement institutional responsibilities whiles also exploring avenues for financial resources to support academic activities under the agreement. 06 Aug. 07
