Accra, (Greater Accra) -The Ghana Education Trust Fund Bill, that seeks to create a supplementary fund to support education, is among a number of draft legislative proposals to be put before Parliament when the House reconvenes on Tuesday, May 10, for the second meeting of the fourth session.
Parliament broke for the Easter holidays on March 31 after sitting through 12 weeks in the first meeting of the session.
The House is expected to consider 15 bills, five instruments and 19 papers while some 110 questions and three “urgent questions” from the legislators are listed to be answered by the various sector ministers.
The bills to be laid before Parliament also include the Constitutional (Amendment) Bill, Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, Export Development and Investment Fund Bill and Stool Lands Boundaries Settlement (Repeal) Bill.
The instruments are the Exchange Control (Amendment) Regulations, 2000, L.I. 1669, Breastfeeding Promotion Regulations, 2000, L.I. 1667, Armed Forces (Amendment) Regulations 2000, C.I. 27 and C.I. 28, as well as Armed Forces (Amendment) Regulation, 2000, L.I. 1668.
Among the papers are reports of the Auditor-General on the Public Accounts of Ghana for the year ending 31st December, 1998, (covering Ministries, Departments and Agencies), Statements of Foreign Exchange Receipts and Payment of the Bank of Ghana for the first half year ended 30th June, 1997.
According to the agenda for the second meeting, the House is expected to sit for 12 weeks.
