EU projects for Nkwanta District

Nkwanta, July 24, GNA – The European Union has earmarked GH(1.6 million (1.6 billion cedis) for the first phase of the 6th EU Micro Projects that includes the construction of facilities for education, drainage and sanitation for the Nkwanta district. Mr Cornelius Agbeko Fugah, Nkwanta District EU Micro Projects Coordinator told the Ghana News Agency at Nkwanta that some of the projects were completed.

He said the District Assembly had provided GH(10,000 (100 million cedis) of the GH(40,000 (400 million cedis) counterpart funding support for the projects.

He said the policy was to send EU projects to only willing communities and that those who will fail to provide the required counterpart funding would be blacklisted.

Mr Fugar commended communities in the Nkwanta District for their enthusiasm in the projects. The second phase of the project is expected to begin in September this year, according to him. 24 July 07
