Parents withdraw their daughters from school

Nkwanta, July 24, GNA – Ten girls between the ages of nine and 11 have been withdrawn from school to take care of the home.

The Damanko Evangelical Presbyterian Primary School pupils are to take care of their younger siblings while their parents work on their farms.

Madam Agnes Agrobasah, a teacher of the school, said this at a community education programme organized by the Konkomba/Basari Tertiary Students Union (KOBASU) at Damanko.

Madam Agrobasah said the situation, which occurs every farming season, was becoming worse.

She said teachers received verbal attack when parents’ request to take their children home was not granted and appealed to stakeholders in education to intervene.
