Begoro (E/R), July 16, GNA – Circuit Supervisors of the Ghana Education Service in the Fanteakwa District, have appealed for support in the discharge of their duties.
They made the appeal at a forum on Break-through to Literacy (BTL) under the Equal Gait programme of USAID.
The BTL programme, which started three years ago, is aimed at teaching pupils in Primary Class one Akuapim Twi before proceeding to learn the English language.
A spokesman for the supervisors, Mr J. S. Yaovi Tettevi, noted that lack of support for Circuit Supervisors demoralised them since they incurred a lot of expenses on the maintenance of their motor-bikes and than the allowances they received.
He said even though they were determined to improve on their performances they had no help other than their salaries to ensure efficient work.
Mr Tettevi appealed to the District Assembly to support the District Directorate of Education to motivate them to intensify supervision of schools.
He suggested that at least one percent of the District Assembly’s Common Fund should be allocated to support Circuit Supervisors in the discharge of their duties.
The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Agyabeng Ntori, urged stakeholders to pool resources for the Equal/Gait programme to succeed.
