Soko (Ash), May 3, GNA–The Afigya-Sekyere District Assembly has constructed a borehole valued at 16 million cedis for the residents of Soko to provide them with potable water.
The project was funded through the assembly’s share of the Common Fund. Commissioning the project at Soko, Mr Rexford Anokye, the District Chief Executive, advised the people to take good care of the facility by maintaining it.
The DCE said through the common fund, the government is determined to ensure that all communities, irrespective of their geographical location, have access to basic social amenities.
He stated that rural development will continue to engage the attention of the government since majority of Ghanaians live in the rural communities. Mr Anokye urged rural communities to reciprocate the gesture of the government and the assemblies by living up to their tax obligations.
He said much as the government is committed to the development of all communities, it would not implement projects in areas only for them to be under-utilised or serve as “white elephants”.
