What kraa are the Ghanaians in Atlanta doing anyway

A group of young ladies sit in a plush apartment on Roswell Rd in Atlanta, discussing current events and possible solutions. They just happen to be Ghanaian, though their interests are global and varied.

“What kraa are the Ghanaians in Atlanta doing anyway?” one asks. “You always hear of events and functions going on in DC, New York and Chicago; but hardly anything happens down here.”

That’s not entirely true. There are quite a few functions that take place in the ATL, however, the Ghanaian community is hard pressed to get cohesive information regarding them. In 3 weeks, however, there will be a function that is sure to entertain and hopefully provide a venue that will gel the community as a whole.

On July, 21, Africa Soul Lounge, a concert featuring R&B, Afrobeat, reggae and modern jazz is a benefit to support needy children and parents at Korle-Bu. It’s being presented by KBFF and Banner, Inc, two organizations committed to improving the lives of children and presenting a standard of excellence. Three live bands will be featured (The Stacy Frison Band, Mid-Knight, and a third surprise guest), an awesome catered dessert menu, and a raffle with the opportunity to receive a weekend get-away at the Marriott, free tickets to the Georgia Aquarium, and many, many other prizes.

KBFF was started in 2005 by the organization’s President as a direct response to an article written by a UK independent newspaper, and posted on Ghanaweb. A group of friends decided that these conditions were absolutely fixable with a community effort, and devised an easy way for concerned citizens and child advocates to make donations and do their part to make a difference in the less fortunate’s lives.

Please visit www.kbff.org to buy discounted advanced tickets. You don’t want to miss this show!
