Accra, July 1, GNA – The Rt. Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, on Sunday called on African leaders to lead holy and upright lives in order to redeem the Continent from poverty and other issues pertaining to underdevelopment. He noted that so long as the Continent has leaders with corrupt hearts and minds Africa will continue to suffer underdevelopment. Speaking at the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Most Holy Trinity Branch of the Church at Tema, on the theme: “Holiness, Rt. Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso said Christianity would be meaningless unless Christians aspired to behave like Christ.
“We have a unique responsibility to do what is expected of us as Christians,” he observed.
Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso noted that indiscipline was at its peak at every aspect of national life, especially in churches where people fail to give reverence to God.
He noted that the present state of affairs required men and women who are full of the spirit of God and who continually exhibit the holiness of the Lord in their lives in whatever they do especially in the mist of the socio-economic and political problems. Holiness he said should be the practice of Christians in order not to bring the name of the Lord into disrepute and also facilitate the winning of souls for Christ through evangelism and outreach programmes. “Our lives should reflect the Christianity in us and draw people closer to God rather than pushing them away.”
Rt. Rev Dr. Frimpong-Manso called on Presbyterians not to be associated with the wickedness and evil deeds which dominate the society and should rather have time for Godly works.
He commended the government for the stance it took against the proposed gay conference in Ghana, last year.
Rt. Rev. Frimpong-Manso tasked Christians to stay awake and pray for leaders of the country to ensure the development and unity of Ghana. 01 July 07
