NGO presents 10 million cedis cheque to Tamale Relief Fund

Tamale, June 12, GNA – Hope for Children, a British Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) under the auspices of the Regional Advisory Information and Network Systems (RAINS) another NGO on Monday presented a cheque of 10 million cedis to the Tamale Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of basic schools in the Tamale Metropolis. Madam Azara Mahamadu, Country Representative of Hope for Children said her organisation was touched by the plight of the victims of the rainstorm that hit the Metropolis and therefore decided to make the donation to help remedy the situation.

She said the money was to be used for the rehabilitation of basic schools to enable the pupils to attend school in classrooms conducive for effective teaching and learning.

Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, who received the cheque on behalf of the Relief Fund thanked the NGO for its concern for the plight of the school pupils and urged other NGOs to emulate them.

He noted that, disasters could occur at any time, so steps should be taken to address the current situation in the Metropolis and be prepared for any disasters in other areas.
