Volta Regional SFO Director dies in accident

Ho, May 29, GNA- Mr. Kofi Goni, Volta Regional Director of the Serious Fraud Office died on the spot in an accident at Tegbi-Kpota near Keta, while returning from a funeral last Sunday.

Three other persons who were travelling with him and a pedestrian also died, while two other persons on the vehicle survived with serious injuries.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Isaac Addo, Keta Divisional Commander of the Motor Transport and Traveling Unit (MTTU) disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview. He named the other deceased persons as Emira Adedze, 30, Benedicta Tornyehia, 48, Grace Doku, 50, who were all on the vehicle and Anthonio Cosmos, 36, the pedestrian.

ASP Addo said Madam Arku Dorkenoo and Doh Dorkenoo, who escaped with injuries were receiving treatment at the Keta Government Hospital. He said the group were returning from a funeral at Anloga when the accident happened in a curve at “Self Control Bar” at Tegbi-Kpota. ASP Addo said the late Mr Goni then driving, tried to avoid Anthonio Cosmos, who was crossing the road but lost control, knocked down Cosmos and ran into an abandoned building on the other side of the road.
