Rainstorm destroys properties in Takoradi

Shama (W/R), May 22, GNA – Over 15 electricity poles between the Takoradi and Kwesiminstim highway were destroyed in a rainstorm on Monday. About 25 fishing boats anchored at the Shama, Sekondi, Abuesi, Aboadze, Nkontompo and New Takoradi beaches were also destroyed in the storm.

A mast of the TIGO mobile phone operators at Chapel collapsed and this has affected users of the service.

The rains, which started at about 1100 hours, lasted for nearly an hour but the storm that followed caused the havoc. A visit by the Ghana News Agency to some of the affected communities showed debris. Several other buildings within the Shama Ahanta East Metropolis, private residential homes and billboards were damaged while some trees were uprooted. 22 May 07
