Kpetoe gets a market complex

Agortime-Kpetoe, May 16, GNA – A market complex, befitting the status of Agortime-Kpetoe as the capital of the Adaklu-Anyigbe District, is under way.

The complex, being developed in phases, is also to maintain the standing of the town as one the preferred marketplaces in the area Mr Gershon Gadzekpo, the District Coordinating Director, told the GNA after handing over a 16-unit market stall to the assembly. He said the market would comprise a clinic, closed and open sheds, a cr=E8che, a bank, slaughter house and fuel station and financed from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) would be completed by 2010. Mr Gadzekpo said the unit is a component of the second phase of the market that includes two other sheds about 70 percent complete, a drainage system and resurfacing of the lorry park, all estimated at 605 million cedis. Manye Kwawu Dade, the Queen Mother of Agortime, suggested that planners modified design of open market stalls to prevent rains from soaking wares.

Nene Nuer Keteku, Konor of the Agortime Traditional Area, suggested that roads be constructed from the market to link surrounding villages. Mr Mawuli Dabi, the District Chief Executive, promised that the assembly would discuss the suggestions for implementation. He said lockable stalls would also be constructed for the market. Mr Dabi cautioned those to be allocated stalls that modifications could not be made without the prior permission of the District Engineer.
