Teachers warned against alcohol use while on the job

Amasaman, (G/W), GNA – Mr Osei Lartey, Circuit Supervisor of the Ghana Education Service of Nsuobiri in the Ga West District has warned teachers who take alcohol before they teach to refrain from such a habit.

He said such habits affected their teaching and the pupils’ learning, adding that pupils could also cultivate the habit. Mr Lartey, who was on a tour of nine schools in the Ga West District, was addressing teachers, pupils and guardians following reports that some teachers in the area attend classes drunk. He said the GES would deal drastically with offenders and would not compromise its position.

Mr Lartey also said parents and guardians should endeavour to provide their wards with their educational requirements and charged the pupils to take their lessons seriously and to aspire to greater heights. Nee Okoe Armah, Chief of Nsuobiri, advised the pupils to pursue their education with all seriousness to enable them to face the challenges of the future.

He said without education, it would be impossible for them to occupy higher positions in future.
