Tinker defiles five children.

Techiman (B/A), April 8, GNA – The Techiman circuit tribunal on Friday remanded a 36 year-old tinker at Kintampo in custody for allegedly defiling five children aged between 11 and 13.

The tribunal, chaired by Mr Justice Nicholas Abodakpi, ordered Christopher Adjei, alias “Wayire”, who pleaded not guilty, to re-appear on April 10. Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Techiman, Mr E. A. Yendaw, prosecuting, said that on October 13, 1998, the five girls visited the accused in his shop where he allegedly defiled them in turns.

Mr Yendaw said the accused then gave each of them a cake of lux soap and 1,000 cedis to share, but for fear of being exposed they later returned the gifts to Adjei.

He said one of the victims broke the news to one Madam Fati Abdulai, alias Yaa, who reported to the Police. When the girls were examined at the Techiman Government Hospital, it was found out that they had been defiled.
